The Texture Of Things

Um, what’s going on around here?

April 26th, 2007

I’m screwing around with the theme a bit today. (Thanks, KLee, for your approval in the previous post’s comments!) This purple is a very soft look, isn’t it? I found some awesome themes that I keep considering, but I think this puffy look is good with me right now.

One thing I haven’t fixed yet (read: haven’t figured out how to fix yet) is the break that occurs in the purple background color when a post is too long. I’m not the only one having this problem, and I’ll deal with that when I can. Most likely I’ll just break long posts into 2 parts. Who knows. And how I’ll deal with that in the archived stuff is also uncertain. If I’m caffeinated, I might just tell you all to cope.

On other fronts…
I have the rest of the archived posts up, but anything earlier than January 7th is missing its comments. I’ll get those up some time this weekend, probably.

Archives! They’re Blog-tastic!

April 25th, 2007

I’ve got all of the archived posts up, except for the very first month of the blog (Sept 2006). Many comments are still missing, but they’ll be up in the next couple of days.

Meanwhile, have a lovely day.

Love,
amy.

Freshly Pressed, Low Pulp

March 29th, 2007

Hello, my lovelies.
Welcome to the new WordPress version of things.

Over the course of, I don’t know, some time, I’ll be migrating over all the old posts (not all made it) and all of the comments from the Plugged Out version of Ye Olde Blogge. So don’t be alarmed when stuff doesn’t show up right in the archives. It’ll get there eventually.

Also, I have a new image I want to use for my banner, but I don’t know yet how to manipulate the existing one and put an image in place of the gradient color. Will work on that, too.

Popping In

February 21st, 2007

1. I have enabled comment verification because a couple of entries are getting pounded by comment spam. I’m not really in a position at this time to look into better methods of spam prevention, but I will as soon as I can because I generally prefer comments to go up immediately. So, rest assured, if you are a real person leaving a real comment, I’ll approve it. I promise.

2. Things are still profoundly busy at the texture ranch. I will post on some stuff soon. Or something.

3. A rumor has it that there is a WHOYCBE gift in the ether for me and there is promise it could materialize soon. When it does, it does. I promise to post immediately upon its arrival.

4. Love you all. Be back soon.

I Beg Your Pardon

February 11th, 2007

I don’t mean to be so absent, so I’m dropping in to say that posting will be sparse for a bit. In addition to my classes kicking my ass (wait – I’m the teacher. How’d that happen?), I’m working a lot of hours at my mother’s store for the next month or so. My uncle, her usual partner in crime retail, is out having surgery. He’s recovering well, but it’ll be a while before he can reclaim the helm.

I miss you dearly and I’m cataloguing posts to write and publish, and I will post when I can. I’m still reading everywhere, as you know if you’ve checked your hit counter, but my rare comments are going to be even rarer for now.

As for the WHOYCBE gift, no, it has not arrived. I promise that I will drop whatever I’m doing and post if it does come, even if that means making the tot wait for a diaper change or to have her nose wiped.

Imagine my surprise yesterday when I came home to find a plain brown box had arrived for me. I thought, “Could it be?! Could it really be here?!” The answer, I’m embarassed to admit, is no – the box was a bunch of stuff I bought on eBay. Um, DUH. /sigh. The excitement was nice while it lasted, though.

Your Assistance, Please

February 1st, 2007

Please report typos, bad or broken links, and other generally not working things to the author of this weblog. Your assistance will be rewarded with, I don’t know, a jaunty wave and a greeting yelled in a bad accent*.

We’re (and by “We’re” I mean “HG is”) working on establishing a hit counter, report thingie for ye olde bloge, and I discovered there were some bad links in some archived entries. I think I’ve fixed them, but who the heck knows at this point if I got them all.

*Accent to be chosen by the proprietor of this weblog. No two accents and/or waves will be identical. Your results may vary.

Delurking Week? Seriously?

January 10th, 2007

I heard over at Summer’s blog that it’s National Delurking Week. So, yeah. How about that?

Holy Wow!

November 14th, 2006

A new banner, thanks in part to HG, who figured out the code. I added the MS Paint lettering all by myself.

Woot!

The Winter Holiday is ON!

November 11th, 2006

Today’s the day, the big big day.

The Winter Holiday Of Your Choice Blog Extravaganza giftee names have begun to be assigned. I have received mine, and I can hardly wait. HARDLY.

I will do my best to restrain myself, though. And I will try to post more. The poor sap who gets my name will be in for a harder time, I think, because this blog is so new. Others have at least a year under their belts and in their archives. It is only fair that I make myself a little more visible here, in order to facilitate the Gift Giving Experience.

Some announcements:
Historically, I’ve never participated in those email-forward memes that my cousins always send me, but I will add some here between now and the end of the year. I will categorize all memes during this time under WHOYCBE. I hope it helps.

I will update my Questionnaire, because some new things have occurred to me. I’ll indicate an update with a new entry to draw attention to it.

Meanwhile, Yay! Winter is Coming!

This Entry is About Me

October 31st, 2006

I don’t really want to put this whole thing in my sidebar, so I’m putting it here and linking to it.

I am a 30-something year old woman, married to a 30-something year old man whom I’ve dated since I was 17. We have two cats and a 2-point-something year old daughter with what currently looks like tactile hypersensitivity and feeding problems, compounded by anxiety. At this time, her therapist doesn’t believe she has Sensory Integration Dysfunction, but that could change as we pursue further therapy.

This weblog is my place to document the process of helping my tot learn to feed herself and explore her world like other kids her age do. If anyone ever stumbles on this blog while in a search for information about when to seek intervention for a child whose behaviors seem very odd but not critical, I hope s/he finds some of my observations helpful. (I’m not an expert in much of anything, but feel free to email me if you like. Really.)

I also use this place to record her milestones and my memories of her, because frankly I stink at keeping her scrapbooks and baby book up to date.

If you are reading this as a way of beginning here, you might also want to try this.
